Or, if you’re in Virginia, when there’s a chill in the air on Monday and it’s 80 degrees on Tuesday. Regardless of the weather, it’s October. Which means, Halloween is just around the corner. In the spirit of the holiday, we’ve put together some spooky stories for you. But these aren’t your typical scary stories. These are stories about haunted, and possibly deadly, cars. Just like most stories that fall under the supernatural umbrella, it’s hard to decide if these are factual or not. We’ll let you be the judge.

, two young outlaw lovers who spent the 1930’s raising hell. The couple were responsible for numerous robberies, burglaries, and murders. Their crime spree came to a halt on May 23 of 1934 after being ambushed by a posse, or what we would probably call a task force now. Led by former Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, the group waited for the outlaws on a rural road in Louisiana. The officers fired roughly 130 rounds into the couples car, even as it continued down the street, eventually crashing into a ditch. Bringing an end to Bonnie and Clyde.

The stolen vehicle was actually returned to its original owner by a federal judge in the wake of the outlaw’s deaths. The owner ended up leasing the car to an anti-crime lecturer who toured fairgrounds with it along with the mothers of Bonnie and Clyde. After it’s years as a

In true horror movie fashion, this Renault Megane seemed to have a mind of its own. In 2004, a family and their guests in Cape Town, South Africa had fallen asleep in their home. Late at night, the family were startled awake by the sound of their vehicle revving. Fearing their car was being stolen, they ran outside to see what was happening. The car was jumping around their yard, revving its engine, and to the family’s disbelief. . . had no driver.

The family called the police, who didn’t believe a single word of what was being explained to them. That is, until the vehicle revved alive again, and began moving backwards towards a tree. The police, now shocked along with the witnesses, couldn’t deny the event or explain how it had happened. The automotive manufacturer would later explain the incident as a result of a rusty starter cable that had short

But as the white car takes its final left turn, we see the dashcam video show a fence. The cop car stops dead, as the white car continues to drive away, on the opposite side of the fully intact fence. The tail lights of the car disappear while the police stares at the fence in front of them. Did the bottom of the fence kick up, allowing the white car to pass unscathed? Or did something more paranormal occur?

The 24 year old was traveling to a car racing competition with his German mechanic friend Rolf Wutherich, when his car crashed, killing the actor and throwing Rolf from the Porsche. Was the accident an unfortunate mistake, or a premonition come true?

But that wasn’t the end for the Porsche Spyder. The vehicle would find itself in the position of George Barris, a famous Hollywood car customizer. During its time being stored in a garage, the entire garage went up in flames. After the fire was put out, something unexplainable happened—the Porsche was intact and completely unscathed by the fire. The vehicle named ‘Little Bastard’ by Dean’s language coach, was something of a mystery. It was taken to numerous car shows and displayed until it vanished from it’s trailer one day while on its way back from a car show in 1960. The vehicle was never recovered, and it’s whereabouts are still unknown.

In December of 2002, the Surrey Police began to receive a massive influx of calls regarding an accident on the A3. The A3 is an expansive motorway running from London all the way down to Portsmouth. The calls described a vehicle that had swerved off the road and crashed into the underbrush and down an embankment. The police arrived at the stretch of highway at Burpham near Guildford, but were perplexed immediately. There was no sign of a car accident. No car, no debris, nothing.

Finally they found a maroon car deep into the brush, that appeared to have been there for a long stretch of time. The car was covered in spider webs and debris, and there they found the decomposed remains of the driver.

The colder months are approaching, and with it, winter car maintenance. With higher-end and performance vehicles, there are a few steps owners must take to keep their cars in good shape and themselves safe while on the road. Whether you’re planning to put your car in storage or drive it year-round, there are a few key things to consider to keep your car in its best condition.

If you’re putting your car in storage for the winter, there are a number of things you should consider so you aren’t dealing with headaches come spring.

             Cleaning

            – Before storing your vehicle, and especially before putting a cover on it, you thoroughly clean the interior and exterior. If you’re worried about unpainted metal portions of your vehicle rusting, you can spray a protective coat of rubberized undercoating in those areas. If you’re worried about maintaining the condition of your vehicle, you can use WD-40 in place of rubberized undercoating. When using sprays and chemicals, always be wary of any exhaust or hot areas, as certain chemicals and sprays are highly flammable. If you intend to steam-clean any portion of your vehicle, do so far enough in advance of storing so that moisture doesn’t cause mold.

            Car Cover

             – Also be sure to clean the exterior of your vehicle before putting the cover on. If you’re storing your car outside, be sure to check that it’s a waterproof material and that it’s secured properly. You’ll want a cover that is breathable and keeps out moisture and won’t damage or scratch the paint. Be sure to remove anything from the vehicle that doesn’t need to be there, or that you need (like phone chargers, clothes, etc). You won’t want to keep taking the cover on and off just to grab things.

             – Mice and other small animals love to cause trouble, especially where you don’t want them to. There are a few ways to protect your vehicle from these buggers. One option is putting dryer sheets throughout the interior of your car or using mothballs in socks instead. Mousetraps work well but be mindful of where your car is being stored. Do not use mouse traps inside the vehicle or if you have pets, as mouse traps can poison your animals.

            Tires

             – Before storing your vehicle, make sure to inflate your tires. It’s advisable to even inflate them to higher air pressure, but be careful to not exceed the maximum air pressure that’s listed on the side of the tire. Due to time and temperature, it’s not uncommon for tires to deflate over time. Be sure to check for leaks in your tires prior to storage. Failure to do this could result in your vehicle kneeling its rim.

            Fluids and Battery Health

             – Using a fuel stabilizer will help avoid corrosion in your fuel lines and engine. Ethanol-blended fuels only have a shelf life of three months, so if you’re storing your vehicle for longer than that, it’s important to use a fuel stabilizer. You should also check the vehicle’s oil, oil filter, and fluid levels. After topping off fluids and adding the fuel stabilizer, take one more ride around to allow the new fluids to circulate. Your car’s battery should be removed and stored, or connected to a trickle charger or battery tender. If using a battery tender, check to make sure it has a float mode or automatic shutoff so your battery doesn’t get overcharged. Doing this will help keep your battery in good health.

           Winter Maintenance Tips:

Experienced drivers are no stranger to the stress that can come with driving during the winter months. Make sure the only thing you’ll need to worry about is other people’s driving when it snows, and not your car’s ability to handle the roads!

            Battery Health

             – Check your vehicle’s battery occasionally. While you should always be aware of your battery’s charge, this is especially important in the winter, since getting stuck on the road could be dangerous in low temperatures. The winter months can take a toll on your battery, so it’s important to take all necessary precautions.

             Replace Wiper Blades

            – Keeping an eye on your wiper blades shouldn’t be something reserved for winter. Not only should your blades be in working properly, but you should also check that your fluid is at a good level. Some wiper fluid doesn’t perform well in cooler temperatures, so double-check which fluid you are using.

            Check the Oil

             – To have peace of mind that your vehicle will perform well in the winter, proper oil maintenance is key. Your oil should always be changed on par with the schedule provided in your owner’s manual, but especially in the winter months.

            Tires

             – Using winter tires on your car is highly recommended in states where you’re going to be dealing with winter weather. These tires are designed with deep tread and tire edges to keep your vehicle stable as your drive through snow and ice. If your vehicle currently has sport tires, their shallow tread will render them basically useless at the slightest sign of snow. If you are driving anything other than a four-wheel-drive vehicle or SUV, it’s highly recommended you get winter tires.

Maintaining your car properly, whether in storage or on the road, during the winter is something that shouldn’t be overlooked! Keeping an emergency kit in your car to prepare for anything that may happen is also a good part of your winter preparation.

           The Truth About Tires

Tires can be a frustrating and costly part of owning a vehicle, but it’s one of the most important purchases you’ll make for your vehicle. Knowing what’s right for your vehicle and taking into consideration all factors prior to making this costly purchase can seem a little daunting. You will easily spend over $500 for new tires, so you want to make sure you’re getting the right ones! With winter right about the corner, we’re here to give you some guidance, or maybe a refresher, on the different styles of tires, how to determine what’s best for you, and why keeping them in good shape is important.

Before buying any tires for your vehicle, make sure to check your owner’s manual for the recommended tire measurements. The measurements should look something like the following: P215/60R16 94T. If you have any questions or concerns, consult with a professional prior to purchasing anything.

So what are the different types of tires?

All-season tires: These are the most common tires you’ll find on the road. All-season tires are popular because of their reputation for good mileage and reliable weather grip. If you live in an area with minimal changes in weather conditions year-round, these tires will do the trick. However, if you live in a high elevation or mountainous area that experiences weather like heavy snowfall or ice, consider switching to a different tire during those months. All-season tires are equipped with grooves and tread that can handle minor rain or snow but aren’t as effective as other weather-specific tires.

Summer Tires: Summer tires are perfect for regions that don’t experience temperatures lower than 45℉ for the majority of the year. The tread is designed to handle wet and dry conditions, excluding heavy rains or snow, in addition to dry roads and summertime temperatures. These tires, when in the right climate or environment, can be used as all-season options with the advantages of withstanding summer conditions.

Winter Tires/Snow Tires: Winter tires, as implied by the name, are the opposite of summer tires. Even at a quick glance, you can quickly see the difference between the two in the tread and grip found on winter tires but not summer tires. Even if you experience minor snowfalls frequently, or heavy snowfall periodically, these tires will get you where you need to go safely. Winter tires also react differently to temperature, staying softer and more pliable than other seasonal tires. This provides better grip and reliable braking ability, even in poor winter conditions.

Performance Tires: Whether you dry a sports car, or just want to feel like you do, performance tires are designed to handle like a dream when your inner Speed Racer comes out. The shallow treads are modest but provide substantial traction and contact with the road. Just like summer tires, these tires are not designed for cold temperatures or harsh weather conditions.

Truck Tires: Do you like to take your truck off the beaten path? Do you keep it to the pavement? Either way, there’s a type of tire that’s made for you. The tread between the different truck tires will vary depending on what terrain you’ll be driving on. If you live in an area that deals with deep snow or heavy mud, these may be a better choice than typical winter tires.

There are a variety of things to consider when faced with all the different tires in each of these categories. Account for the weather conditions of where you live. Does it snow or rain a lot? Is it mild year-round or does the temperature fluctuate drastically between the seasons? What kind of driving are you doing? Are you a modest driver who sticks to highways, do you race your vehicle at the track, or do you go off-roading in the woods? All these factors will decide what tire is best for you, and when.

Also, your make and model has a big impact on the type of tire that comes stock. For example, BMW M5 performance tires are notoriously bad at driving in the snow. That’s because they aren’t designed for it. If you own an M5, plan on not driving it if you get more than an inch or two of snowfall. Or if it’s your everyday driver, then consider getting a set of Winter Tires.

Tires have a job to do, but so do you. There are numerous things to do to make sure you’re getting the most out of your tires and also keeping the rest of your vehicle in tip-top shape. One of those things is to check your tire pressure, at least once a month. Don’t know how to check your tire pressure, or aren’t sure what your tire pressure is? Check out our video here! In addition to checking tire pressure and keeping your tires properly inflated, make sure to also rotate your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. Many places will do tire rotations with oil changes since the two happen close together.

Another important thing to do is keep an eye on the tread and look of your tires. Bald tires are not only detrimental to how your vehicle handles and your gas mileage, but tires with little or no tread can be extremely dangerous. Even if perfect weather conditions, tires in poor condition can prove troublesome. In addition to keeping an eye on the inflation and tread on your tires, also be mindful of how much weight your vehicle is carrying. Believe it or not, the sticker on your door will tell you how much weight your vehicle can safely handle. While we feel like we can stuff as much as physically possible in our seats and trunks, overloading your vehicle can cause tire failures.

Lastly, and possibly the most annoying aspect financially, do NOT install mismatched tires. It might seem easier to only replace the tire that’s damaged or past its prime, but not for the long term. Mismatched tires can impact the handling of your car, and cause unwanted wear and tear on the other tires. At the very least, tires should be purchased in pairs, but ideally as a full set of 4. While this definitely hurts our wallets, it’s the safest and smartest option when it comes to needing to replace or buy new tires.

Ah, Spring! With the change in temperatures come Spring Rains. Sometimes those rains are light, warm, and breezy. Other times, you could be stuck in a torrential downpour. Do you know how to drive safely during the rains of Spring? If you’re uncertain, here are a few helpful driving tips.

Make sure your tires are in good condition. How do your tires look? Do they have plenty of tread? Are they showing signs of even or uneven wear? Are your tires properly inflated? If you answer yes to all of these questions, chances are very good your tires are in good condition. If you aren’t sure, you can bring your vehicle into The

Know how to react when you hydroplane. Hydroplaning is when your vehicle’s tires lose contact with the road because they’re floating on water. This happens when water pools on the road or during a heavy rain. When you feel your vehicle start to hydroplane, immediately remove your foot off the gas pedal. Deceleration should help your vehicle reconnect with the road quickly. Avoid hitting the brakes when you’re skidding or hydroplaning, but if you do, pump them so they don’t lock up. If you begin to hydroplane or skid sideways, turn your wheel into the turn.

Learn how to get out of a skid. If you find yourself hydroplaning and you start skidding, look for a visual target off in the distance and start heading toward that target. The idea is that if you pick a visual target, your brain and hands will maintain control and aim your vehicle towards safety. But how to manage a skid depends on if you’re driving a front-wheel-drive vehicle or a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

Flowers After 5 is a terrific way to relax at the end of the day. This event has been going on at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden all summer, but there are still two Thursday events left for you to attend. There’s live music, flowers of course, and more! Note that the September 13th event is also a Fidos event, which means that your dog is welcome, too!

For many German luxury car drivers, the first time you might think about your vehicle’s tire pressure is on that first cold day of Autumn. Why? That’s usually the day when BMW and Mercedes-Benz Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) systems alert you to lower than average tire pressure. As the air temperatures drop in the Fall, cold air causes an unusually large drop in tire pressure and triggers your vehicle’s diagnostic system.

Does this mean your tires’ are actually under-inflated, or is this simply a system glitch?

Well, the simple answer is: check your tire pressure anyway. Driving on improperly inflated tires is unsafe. According to the

(pound per square inch) per month, so we recommend checking your air pressure monthly, so you remain in the acceptable range. A simple tire pressure gauge will help you identify your tire’s current air pressure. Keep in mind, as you drive the operating heat will increase, which in turn increases the air pressure. Check the air pressure before driving your vehicle (ideally when it’s been sitting for three or more hours).

Why Are BMWs So Expensive To Repair? Uncovering The Truth Behind The Costs

Are you a proud owner of a BMW or considering getting one? While these luxury vehicles are renowned for their performance and style, there’s one question that often crosses the minds of BMW enthusiasts: Why are BMWs so expensive to repair? In this blog post, we’ll review the factors that contribute to the high cost of repairing BMWs. Whether you’re a current owner looking for answers or someone contemplating a BMW purchase, you’ll gain valuable insights into the world of BMW repairs.

           1. Engineering Excellence and Complexity:

BMW is synonymous with precision engineering and innovation. Their commitment to engineering excellence results in vehicles that offer top-notch performance and cutting-edge technology. However, this commitment also leads to intricate systems and specialized parts, which can significantly affect repair costs. From advanced electronics to innovative engines, BMWs are packed with high-tech components requiring specialized skills and repair tools. This level of sophistication naturally leads to higher repair expenses.

           2. Genuine Parts and Quality Standards:

BMW is known for its emphasis on using Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts to maintain the quality and performance of its vehicles. While OEM parts ensure the best fit and performance, they can be pricier than aftermarket alternatives. BMW’s stringent quality standards ensure that their vehicles meet the highest quality and safety benchmarks, but adhering to these standards during repairs can contribute to the overall cost.

           3. Specialized Training and Expertise:

The Euro Shop employs only Certified BMW Technicians to work on your vehicle. That is not the case with every shop or dealership. In some cases, a shop will have one Certified technician, but someone who isn’t certified performs routine inspections or simpler tasks. When you take your BMW to The Euro Shop, you can rest assured that only a certified professional will be working on your vehicle.

           4. Warranty and Maintenance Programs:

BMW offers a factory warranty that covers certain repairs for a specific period, but it may not include all components or last indefinitely. While maintenance programs offered by the seller of your vehicle can offset some costs, they often come with a price tag. These programs can provide peace of mind but also add to the overall cost of owning a BMW, including repairs outside the warranty period.

           5. Luxury Features and Materials:

BMW vehicles are renowned for their premium materials and luxurious interiors. While these features enhance the driving experience, they can be more expensive to repair or replace. Whether it’s fine leather upholstery or advanced entertainment systems, repairing or replacing these components comes at a premium. Additionally, BMW’s advanced features, like advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), require specialized expertise and equipment for repairs, further contributing to the expense.

           Practical Tips or Steps:

            Regular Maintenance:

           Essential Porsche Services:

           1. Routine Maintenance:

Routine maintenance is the foundation of Porsche care. It includes services such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations. These regular check-ups help ensure that your Porsche’s vital systems are operating optimally. Following the manufacturer’s recommended service intervals is crucial to maintaining your vehicle’s warranty and longevity.

           2. Brake Inspection and Service:

Porsche vehicles are built for exceptional speed and performance, and well-maintained brakes are critical to safety and performance. Regular brake inspections and service can include pad replacements, rotor resurfacing or replacement, and brake fluid flushes. Neglecting brake maintenance can lead to decreased stopping power and potentially dangerous situations.

Your Porsche’s transmission and drivetrain play a vital role in delivering power to the wheels. Transmission fluid changes, drivetrain inspections, and clutch adjustments are essential services to keep your Porsche running smoothly.

Porsche cars are known for their exquisite design and luxurious interiors.

           7. Comprehensive Vehicle Inspection:

Consider scheduling a comprehensive vehicle inspection at regular intervals. This detailed assessment can identify potential issues before they become major problems, saving you time and money in the long run.

           Determining Your Porsche’s Service Needs:

Audi vehicles are engineered to deliver top-notch performance and reliability. Regular Audi services, including routine maintenance and inspections, are crucial for preserving these qualities. When maintenance is neglected, small issues can escalate into more significant problems, leading to costly repairs down the road. Routine servicing helps detect and address issues before they become more costly or dangerous, ensuring your Audi continues to perform as intended.

Audi cars are designed to last, and with proper care, they can provide many years of driving enjoyment. Routine Audi services, such as oil changes, brake inspections, and fluid checks, help extend your Audi’s lifespan. These services keep essential components in optimal condition, reducing wear and tear and preventing premature aging of critical systems.

A thoroughly documented service history and a well-maintained vehicle can significantly boost its resale value. Prospective buyers or dealerships often prefer vehicles with a comprehensive service record, as it indicates responsible ownership and a well-maintained car.
